Cream glazed kitchen with hand-carved island corbels
The island is carried on carved corbels, shaped at the bench rather than ordered from a catalog. They are the piece the room is built around.
Raised-panel doors in a cream glaze, with the glaze worked into the profile so the shadow lines read from across the room. Crown molding runs the perimeter and returns into the island end panels.
A checkered stone floor underneath, laid on the diagonal. Traditional work of this kind lives or dies on the carved details, which is why they are cut by hand.
